The standard effleurage- type facial massage does not apply when we are working in a clinical or med spa setting and performing clinical or medical facial treatments. Clients who have received a facial peel treatment are not candidates for an effleurage-type facial massage because it will induce unwanted inflammation in the skin.
It is possible to give your clients some good TLC post clinical treatment by performing a facial massage technique called Acupressure point massage. This is applied using your finger tips on the facial pressure points. This facial pressure point massage treatment avoids overstimulating the skin post clinical treatment and at the same time offers the added benefits of helping to improve blood circulation and metabolism in the skin while assisting with working your post treatment topicals skin care products into the skin.
